An independent editorial guide, plainly written.

Grand Rooms is a small editorial publication devoted to the architecture, history and etiquette of Europe’s historic land-based casinos. We write for readers who care about the buildings, the manners and the cultural context — not the odds.

We are not a booking service. We do not run a comparison table, we do not accept advertising from casino operators, we do not receive affiliate commissions, and we do not link to online gambling of any kind. The rooms we cover are, without exception, licensed physical venues in EU or UK jurisdictions.

The editorial team is based in Milan and travels quarterly. Where a venue has granted us access, we say so. Where we have relied on public archives, we cite them. Photographs on the site are either taken by us, licensed from architectural archives, or — where historical images were unobtainable — generated to illustrate the period. Generated images are labelled where relevant.

Editorial policy

We correct errors quickly and openly. If you find one, write to the editors at editors@larchivio.example — corrections are added at the foot of the affected article, with the date.

Responsible gambling

Gambling can cause harm. If you are concerned about your own play or someone else’s, please consult a national helpline — GamCare (UK, 0808 8020 133), SOS Joueurs (France, 09 69 39 55 12) or the European Association for the Study of Gambling. Nothing on this site should be read as encouragement to play.
